FlightCapture setup

Build the flight once. Finish it in stages.

FlightCapture is built around three real Cathay workflows: import the monthly roster, add Air Ready crew names before the flight, then complete actual times and aircraft details from the Flight Folder dashboard after landing.

The expected workflow

Use each source for the part of the LogTen record it knows best.

Import the monthly roster from Crew Mobile

Around the 15th of the month, open Cathay Crew Mobile and use Export Roster as .ICS File. Send the .ics file to FlightCapture, then choose all flights, future flights, or manually unselect individual sectors. Export the selected payload to LogTen by using the Export to Logten Pro button.

  • Creates your planned flights for the month in LogTen.
  • Uses scheduled OUT and IN times.
  • Lets LogTen Plan mode highlight projected hour exceedance and recency issues.

Add crew names from Air Ready before departure

The day before the flight, open Cathay Air Ready, select the crew list, tap the ellipsis in the top right, then print or save the crew list into Photos. In FlightCapture, tap Add Crew List or Dashboard and select that crew list image. Review the data and when happy Export to Logten Pro

  • FlightCapture OCR reads the operating crew list.
  • The export updates the matching LogTen flight without duplicating it.
  • If a crew name already exists in LogTen, that existing name is reused.

Complete the flight from Flight Folder after landing

In Cathay Flight Folder on iPad, take a screenshot of the Dashboard page only after the flight has been completed and the OTP card times have turned green. Send the screenshot to your iPhone with AirDrop, or save it to Photos for later. In FlightCapture, tap Add Crew List or Dashboard and select that Dashboard image. Review the data by assessing the Screenshot image and when happy Export to Logten Pro

  • Reads actual OUT, OFF, ON and IN times.
  • Adds the aircraft tail registration.
  • Lets you record whether you were PF, plus approach type and runway used.

Rules that prevent bad imports

Most failures come from using the right source at the wrong time.

Review before export

OCR is assistance, not authority. Check route, date, times, tail number and crew before exporting.

Import one screenshot at a time

Do not select the crew list and dashboard together. Import the full crew list first, then the full dashboard screenshot after landing.

Do not import dashboard times too early

For post-flight times, wait until Flight Folder shows green OTP values. Earlier screenshots may be provisional.

Start with the roster where possible

The roster import gives LogTen the planned flight first. Later crew and dashboard imports can update that record.

Map custom LogTen roles first

If you use custom LogTen crew roles, open Settings > LogTen Integration and map operating crew, examiner roles and cabin roles before exporting.

Use History as the processing trail

Local history shows how a flight moves from roster import to crew capture, post-flight times and final LogTen export status.

Where the LogTen settings live

Use these screens to confirm the app is configured before sending a payload to LogTen.

Onboarding stops if LogTen Pro is not installed on the same device.

Open Settings

Go to More, then choose LogTen Integration. LogTen settings are not duplicated elsewhere.

Enable custom roles

Only turn on custom roles if your LogTen crew setup differs from the default fields.

Map the payload

Match FlightCapture roles to the LogTen API field slots that should receive each crew member.

LogTen custom crew roles

This is the mapping step that prevents crew exports landing in the wrong LogTen field.

The rule

FlightCapture uses the mapping you choose. LogTen's API field keys are fixed, so a custom name in LogTen does not become the API key. If your ISM role is backed by LogTen Custom 1, choose Custom 1 in FlightCapture; the export sends that crew member to flight_selectedCrewCustom1.

1. Check LogTen first

Open LogTen and identify the exact crew slots you use for PIC, SIC, relief crew, examiners and cabin crew.

2. Match slots in FlightCapture

Open Settings > LogTen Integration > Crew Role Mapping. Map each FlightCapture role to the LogTen field slot that should receive it.

3. Label Custom slots

If LogTen Custom 1 is ISM or Custom 2 is SP, type those names into the matching Custom field labels before choosing them in the role picker.

Default setup

If you use LogTen's default flight crew slots, leave PIC, SIC, Relief and Relief 2 alone. FlightCapture will send those roles to flight_selectedCrewPIC, flight_selectedCrewSIC, flight_selectedCrewRelief and flight_selectedCrewRelief2.

Examiners and cabin crew

TC, STC and BTC are separate examiner roles in FlightCapture. By default they map to LogTen Instructor, Observer and Observer 2, but you should change them if your own LogTen setup uses different slots. For cabin crew, map ISM, SP, FP and FA roles to the default Flight Attendant fields or to the Custom 1-10 slots you created in LogTen.

Pre-export checklist

Use this if an import looks wrong before you send anything to LogTen.

  1. Roster import: use Export Roster as .ICS File, not PDF.
  2. Roster selection: choose all flights, future flights, or manually deselect unwanted sectors.
  3. Crew import: use the Air Ready crew list image saved to Photos. Import it on its own.
  4. Post-flight import: use the Flight Folder dashboard screenshot after OTP times are green. Import it second, on its own.
  5. Before exporting: verify flight number, date, route, times, crew and tail registration.
  6. If your LogTen setup uses custom crew roles, confirm Settings > LogTen Integration mappings before every first export after a settings change.
  7. For PF sectors: select PF, approach type and runway before exporting to LogTen.

FAQ

Short answers for beta users.

Will FlightCapture duplicate my LogTen flights?

The expected workflow updates the matching LogTen flight created by the roster import. Always review the export before accepting it.

What happens if a crew name already exists?

FlightCapture uses the existing LogTen crew name rather than creating another copy of the same person.

Do I need iCloud Photos?

You need the screenshots available on the iPhone running FlightCapture. iCloud Photos works; AirDrop also works.

Can I skip the roster step?

You can, but it is weaker. The roster import gives LogTen planned flights first, then the later imports complete them.

Can I use custom LogTen crew roles?

Yes. In Settings > LogTen Integration, map FlightCapture roles to the LogTen field slots you use. If your custom ISM role uses LogTen Custom 1, select Custom 1 so the payload is sent to flight_selectedCrewCustom1.

What does local history show?

History keeps the visible processing trail: roster-created flights, crew-name updates, post-flight dashboard updates and export status. It helps you see what has already been added before sending another payload to LogTen.
