Aircraft Acronyms Setup

Configure Aircraft Acronyms for fast lookup during maintenance-log review, document reading, and pre-flight preparation.

Start Here

These steps cover the core setup options most users need after installing the app.

01

Open the app

Launch Aircraft Acronyms and read the initial disclaimer if it appears. The app is a reference tool, not an operational authority.

02

Search a term

Use the search field to look up an acronym or full term from Airbus, Boeing, Jeppesen, ACMS, or tech-log sources.

03

Save useful entries

Tap the bookmark icon on terms you check often so they stay easy to find later.

04

Review settings

Open Settings to adjust clipboard detection, bookmark behavior, version history, support, and legal links.

Search

Use search as the primary workflow

Type an acronym, phrase, or partial term. Results update quickly so you can check shorthand without leaving the task you are working on.

Bookmarks

Keep repeat references close

Bookmark terms you expect to revisit. In Settings, persistent bookmarks can keep saved items available between sessions.

Clipboard

Enable clipboard suggestions only if useful

When clipboard detection is enabled, the app can inspect copied text locally and search for matching acronyms. Turn it off in Settings if you prefer manual search only.

Speech

Use voice lookup when typing is awkward

Speech recognition can help when you are working one-handed or reading from another source. Spoken content may be processed by Apple speech services.

Share extension

Send selected text from another app

Select text in Safari, Mail, Notes, a PDF viewer, or another iOS app. Open the share sheet and choose Aircraft Acronyms. If it is not visible, use Edit Actions in the share sheet and enable it.

Support purchase

Restore previous support purchases

If you reinstall the app or move to another device, use Restore Previous Support from the purchase screen while signed in with the same Apple ID.

Recommended Setup

A practical setup for pilots and engineers who use the app during document review or pre-flight assessment.

01Search first

Use direct search for a single acronym or phrase.

02Share longer text

Use the share extension when the source text is already selected elsewhere.

03Bookmark repeats

Save recurring aircraft, tech-log, or Jeppesen terms.

04Keep control

Disable clipboard detection if automatic suggestions are more distracting than useful.
